Yvonne Maximchuk, Acrylic and Watercolor Artist, Author, Pioneer, Naturalist

Picture

Yvonne Maximchuk, born in Bralorne B.C. 1952 has been a working artist her entire life.  Her subject material and style vary due to the vast array of subjects to paint and ways to paint them. The magical and infinite material found in the inlets and islands of the Broughton Archipelago has created a lifetime of landscape, seascape, wildlife and garden painting opportunities. Her mastery of expressive watercolor has been the mainstay of her artistic endeavors but painting acrylic on canvas and ceramic studies were never far behind. The artist became an author with the publication of "Full Moon Flood Tide", co-written  with neighbour Bill Proctor and published by Harbour Publishing, 2003. She and Bill co-authored "Tide Rips and Back Eddies" in 2016 to further share his stories and her own memoir "Drawn to Sea" was published of the area in 2015. She has since authored a colouring book about the coast and; drawing on forty years life experience as a homesteader and mariner in the Broughton Archipelago, wrote and self-published a mystery novel, "Murder Rides a Gale Force Wind".
Yvonne moved with Albert  her fisherman sweetheart and her two children to the Broughton Archipelago in 1986 from the metropolitan are of Vancouver/ Fraser Valley. It was a shock to find herself often 'wrong-footed' in the social structure of community of roughly 40-50 people. Interactions were much more intense and impactful than those of city-dwellers and you had to be responsible for what transpired and figure out how to keep relations on an 'even keel". Not always easy.

Please note ~ Readers who chose to support authors do so most effectively by purchasing direct from the author, or from a bookstore. Also authors receive whose books are found in libraries, (as mine are via donation or purchase) receive annual royalties from Canadian Public Lending Rights for books in libraries. Like musicians music, creators now receive very tiny royalties from large online venues.
