Yvonne Maximchuk, Acrylic and Watercolor Artist, Author, Pioneer, Naturalist
Yvonne Maximchuk, born in Bralorne B.C. 1952 has been a working artist her entire life. Her subject material and style vary due to the vast array of subjects to paint and ways to paint them. The magical and infinite material found in the inlets and islands of the Broughton Archipelago has created a lifetime of landscape, seascape, wildlife and garden painting opportunities. Her mastery of expressive watercolor has been the mainstay of her artistic endeavors but painting acrylic on canvas and ceramic studies are not far behind. Three kilns at SeaRose Studio provide for the creation of a diverse array of ceramic ware including Crystalline glazes, Raku and high-fired porcelain tableware.
Yvonne offers painting workshops and art retreats at her home in Echo Bay. She has a strong belief in the healing power of self–expression and promotes and supports the artistic development of everyone she meets. She is co-author with Bill Proctor of the published book, “Full Moon Flood Tide”, and author of her own memoir “Drawn To Sea” (Caitlin Press 2013) about her twenty-five years life experience of fishing, painting and pioneering on the British Columbia coast. Bill and Yvonne's most recent book published by Harbour Publishing, "Tide Rips and Back Eddies" is available, as is her adult colouring book, "Colour the British Columbia Coast" (Harbour Publishing 2016). Email Yvonne to purchase signed copies of any of these books. Currently Yvonne is working on a mystery novel set in Echo Bay.
Yvonne's art hangs in the homes of discerning art lovers around the globe including actor, Leonard Nimoy and the Murrays of Nimmo Bay.
Her paintings and pottery can be seen at “East of Java” in Port McNeill, “West Coast Community Craft Shop” in Port Hardy, “Reflecting Spirit Gallery” in Ucluelet and “Billy’s Museum and Gift Shop” in Proctor Bay, Gilford Island, on this website and at home at SeaRose Studio.
